Marker Duke EPF Ski Binding 2013
Five years after the Marker Duke made its debut in the ski world Marker have introduced the Marker Duke EPF to change the touring bindings game again. The EPF (Extended Power Frame) increases the width of the old Duke by 28% increasing power transmission and requiring a ski of at least 89mm wide to accommodate the new frame and a 10mm wider screw pattern. The Duke heel and toe pieces have been redesigned and the EPF binding looks and feels as solid as ever. The Marker Duke EPF also has an improved climbing aid that has three positions – flat, 7-degrees and 13-degrees, and features a rubber covering that is easier to access with a ski pole.
Backcountry Technology:
HIKE MECHANISM
Protection rules the Duke EPF isn’t designed as a touring binding. But it provides full touring functionality, with a lever, secured under the boot. So even if you just want to walk up to the next ridge, setting the binding into walking mode requires stepping out of it. Something you would have to do anyway if skis of a crampon are required. But then on the way down, opting for a cliff or a steep coulouoir you can be sure your binding cannot switch back into touring mode. No other system is more reliable that’s why we keep it this way.
EXTENDED POWER FRAME
The new Duke EPF comes with all the well known and approved features and benefits from previous models, just bigger, better and 28% wider. The screw pattern is 10mm wider than before providing unbelieveable power transmission - effectively providing a power booster under your feet. The Extended Power Frame allows for the use of a totally new toe and heel design and wider connection to the ski. It requires a ski with a minimum width of 89mm
