Burton Women's Snowboard Camp

23/08/2010 4:11:27 PM

It started out with a sunny day, croissants, and bubbles. Burton Girls Camp at the Remarkables, was shaping up to be a great day – and I hadn’t even finished my croissant yet. We were placed into groups according to our abilities. I was fortunate to be in a group of incredibly friendly and enthusiastic girls and a talented coach. My goals for the day: front boards, boardslides, and front 1’s.Parklife Flag

My week! Day 1 Well um well I got out to Hawea at about 5 past 7 in the morning sat around sleepily till about 7.30 and then we headed off to Makarora in the Haka Tours bus. Makarora is where the helicopters and mountains are located at just if your wondering. We sat around struggling to put our cold stiff boots on! But seeing as I have the freshest boots out the Salomon Pro boot and I was smart enough to put them by the heater on the ride out I became the envy on everyone as I slipped them on without any struggle at all! From then on I stood around with Mitch Reeves the youngest competitor ever. Once everyone was set we started the transceiver check and then started loading in the Heli's. We headed up to the mountain to our disappointment there had been a avalanche on the venue so we sat around for ages trying to figure out what to do. Read More

So Where do I start?? I just competed and was a part of a comp that I have wanted to do from the age of 11!!! I remember being a grom back in England and being glued to the Extreme TV Channel and watching the Rip Curl World Heli Challenge. This comp has a different feel than anything else I have done. You get to meet and hang out with the other athletes and just have some fun. Mother nature was not in our favor with snow conditions this year but Haro and the team did their best to get us up in the hills and getting everyone having an amazing time. From paddock racing (personal favorite) to deer mustering to surfing on the West coast we had a ball!! Oh and not to mention jumping in and out of helicopters and being flown around Mount Aspiring National Park in beautiful Wanaka New Zealand. Read More

Nick Hyne reviews the Ride Machete

6/07/2010 2:59:24 PM

The man himself, Nick Hyne, reviews the 2011 Ride Machete, don't know bout you but i want to ride one!

The Ride Machete is an amazing board - straight up FUN! I remember the first time I tried a Machete was on my first of riding for the season. I thought I would feel sketchy like usual and everything would feel hooky - not with the Machete - my first day back was magic. I am riding the 158 as my big powder board and it is by far the most stoked I have ever been on my powder board. You can bounce through the powder and the rebound is incredible - once again I will say it - FUN. The slight bit of rocker is stable for takeoffs but helps out a lot on landings, and feels amazing amazing to turn on too. The Ride Machete has won Good Wood awards and it is for good reason - it is a great board that most people who have ridden it, rave about.
