    Thank you for your inquiry, I have done some digging and spoken to other contour owners and come up with the following -
    
    What is the average record time for a memory card with the ContourHD1080p?
    
    The ContourHD1080p will record different time lengths depending on what video resolution setting you are using and bitrate you select (default, high, max). Your record times will also vary slightly in cold weather conditions, with older memory cards, and bitrate setting. Below is our list of estimated record times for each resolution at its default bitrate:
    
    Full HD: 1080p - 15 min/GB
    Tall HD: 960p - 15 min/GB
    Action HD: 720p - 15 min/GB
    Contour HD: 720p - 30 min/GB
    Fast SD: WVGA - 60 min/GB
    
    How long will the battery last?
    
    The ContourHD1080p battery will provide up to three hours (180 minutes) of record time. Variables that reduce battery life are cold weather conditions, recording higher resolution and bitrate settings, and the age of the battery.
    
    When the battery finally dies, does the last recorded video get saved, or is that one lost?
    
    We can't say for sure, but the camera still has some power in the battery to clean up things before it does an auto-shutdown. Most equipment seen, will do an auto-shutdown when a battery is low, rather than waiting for the battery to go lower and have a system crash or freeze-up. More than likely finishes the write operation, closes the file, and shuts down the camera.
    
    In most cases when the camera detects that the battery is out of juice it stops recording (as if you had hit the record button to stop recording) and powers off.
    
    If the camera runs out of battery while recording and does not go through a systematic shutdown – you will see that the file has become corrupt when you look at it on your computer and you will have to repair it. This is because the final write function was not communicated to the Memory Card as required. Have a quick read of this article for more detailed explanation.
